Sarah is the Proprietress of Betty’s Bar and Bistro in New Orleans’ historic French Quarter and as well as a Paralegal at Transcendent Law Group, and student at Tulane University. Sarah has 20 year’s experience in the hospitality industry and has previously served as General Manager of Oz New Orleans, founded and co-owned renouned cocktail bars and venues such as The Volstead Lounge and Hotel Vegas in Austin, Texas and Spitfire in New Orleans, LA. As both a legal professional and owner/operator of multiple alcohol beverage outlets, Sarah brings a unique perspective and skill set in understanding the legal and human resource challenges faced by the hospitality industry, specializing in alcohol beverage outlet law, ethics, compliance, permitting, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. In 2020, Sarah was a key leader in the establishment of the Crescent City Meal Assistance Program which assisted those in the hospitality industry, gig economy, and LGBTQ+ community suffering from food insecurity as a result of the business shutdowns caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. In recognition for her efforts in the area of food security, Sarah has been named a 2021 Top Female Achiever by New Orleans Magazine as well as awarded a Proclamation from New Orleans City Council in recognition of her service to the community.
Sarah joined Transcendent Law Group as an intern in May 2021 through Tulane University’s School of Professional Advancement and has since joined the Firm full time as a paralegal. Sarah is currently a junior majoring in General Legal Studies, in the process of obtaining her undergraduate degree and J.D. through Tulane’s 3+3 joint degree program. Sarah holds a 3.98 GPA, has been awarded the Elmo and Margaret Waltzer Scholarship, is a member of the Academic Honor Board and Alpha Sigma Lambda Academic Honor Society. Sarah’s professional experience includes being commissioned by and for the State of Louisiana as a Civil Law Notary with state-wide jurisdiction, extensive work in public policy advocacy for the alcohol beverage outlet and hospitality industry, and community organizing. Sarah was also chosen as a 2021 Fellow of the Loyola Institute of Politics and is an avid public speaker on equality issues including but not limited to work, gender, class, education, and sexuality. Sarah is the Vice President of the Krewe of Petronius, a member of the Louisiana Notary Association, and a Board Member of New Orleans Pride.
